Since our last post about the Smart Gilas in FIBA Asia Stankovic Cup 2010, the Asi Taulava -reinforced Philippine team has split their last two assignments. They have beaten World Championship-bound Jordan with a score of 75-71 and then lost the game against Qatar with a score of 66-61.
With a win-loss score of 2-2, RP's Smart Gilas is placed third the standings of Group B with Lebanon and Qatar having an identical perfect score of 3-0. In Group A, Japan leads with a score of 3-1 against Iran B, Chinese Taipei and Kazakhstan with the same scores of 2-2.
The RP 5 will be playing in the quarterfinals against Iran B which starts on August 13. With what Asi Taulava has been doing, everyone is hoping that he will be allowed by his mother team in the PBA to play in the Asiad by November.
