Hi there!
February 22, 2007. The 80th birthday of The Grand Old Man of Philippine Chess and former FIDE President Florencio Campomanes. He is recovering from a very serious car accident which happened last February 2 in Antalya, Turkey after a FIDE Presidential Board Meeting.
Here at PCC, I would like to send my greetings of good health and more chess games! Enjoy!

Hello Mang Kiko,
ReplyDeleteI can't seem to find a topic where I can properly introduce our small chess club to you, so please excuse me for using this topic; being the latest topic, it will surely catch your attention.
We have a very small chess club in our company and we name it MERALCO Chess Club, which is based on our company's HQ in Ortigas Center, Pasig City.
The officers of the club are Manny Benitez, Jr (the son of Mang Manny of QC Chess Plaza), Darryl Mata, Romy Aguilar, Lilet Bersamina & Rolly Sol Cruz.
Pero kahit maraming empleyado ang MERALCO, konti din lang naman ang mahilig sa chess; around 12 are active in our one-night matches.
However, we hold a chess clinic for children of our co-employees and our top stude is Paulo Bersamina. We have around 15 students in our fold training every other Saturday for about 8 months now.
We also have NM Gerry Cabellon who trains us with simul matches every once in a while.
We hope we can teach more to our students by joining the chess activities posted here.
God bless.
