Philippines' Smart Gilas losses in the opener of the FIBA Asia Stankovic Cup, 74-59 against the host team, Lebanon. Minus the key players of the Philippine team, JV Casio fired up three's in the third quarter to lead the Smart Gilas scorers with 15 points at the end of the game. Points for each quarters: 18-11, 31-20, 51-40, 74-59.
Early in the day, the RP team defeats Syria with a score of 81-67.
FIBA Asia Stankovic Cup will run from August 7-15, 2010 in Lebanon. As of today, the standings in each group:
Group A:
1-1 Chinese Taipei
1-1 Japan
1-1 Kazakhstan
1-0 Iran
0-1 Iraq
Group B:
2-0 Qatar
1-1 Philippines
1-0 Lebanon
0-1 Jordan
0-2 Syria
Philippines will play against Jordan tomorrow August 10 at 12:15 and Qatar on August 11 at 12:15 am.
