The
43rd Biel International Chess Festival is happening on July 19 to 28, 2010. There will be nine sections in the festival and this year's attraction is the
Young Grandmaster Tournament. Our very own GM Wesley So (2674) will be joining the other rising stars of the chess world:
- Defending champion Maxime Maxime-Lagrave (France, 19 ,2710)
- Evgeny Tomashevsky (Russia, 22 ,2708)
- Fabiano Caruana (Italy, 17, 2675)
- Dmitry Andreikin (Russia, 20 , 2643)
- Anish Giri (Netherlands, 16, 2642)
- Nguyen Ngoc Truong Son (Vietnam, 20, 2642)
- Parimarjan Negi (India, 17 , 2636)
- Maxim Rodhstein (Israel, 21, 2626)
- David Howell (England, 19, 2620).
Wesley is 7th and 2nd in the world and Asia respectively in the U-20 category and the world's No. 60 over-all. He is inching closer to the 2700 mark and this is another chance to gain those precious, historic points. I feel positive for Wesley about this one!
Good luck Wesley!
