Hi guys!
Yesterday, December 10, 2006, we had The Induction of Imus Chess Association Inc. Officers. We were graced by no less than Asia's First Grandmaster, Eugene Torre for the ceremonies and a "Simul".
The highlight of the event was the "simul" against 30 players, including the Officers and the Top 5 Finishers of ICA's October 2006 Cavite Chess Challenge both for Seniors and Kiddies.
The result for Torre's performance:
Wins: 21
Draws: 8
Loss: 1
Yup!
Its big news. Jimmy Umali is the name, based in Bacoor Cavite. Imagine the throngs of spectators and players alike ganging up on Jimmy just to shake hands with the hero. The one responsible for scalping the GM that day.
8 players got away from Eugene's devastating attack and the rest,l 21 resigned instead of being mated.
The games started at 3pm and ended at 7.
Ok, it happened at Robinson's Place, Imus Cavite.
I've got a lot of photos waiting in line so enjoy the wait.
Guys! the feeling of playing against him is unexplainable. Superb! I got to notate my game against him and yes, I'll have it framed.
El Eugenio, MANY THANKS FROM Imus Chess Association Inc. Family and the entire Province of Cavite.
Thank you goes to Vice Mayor Manny Maliksi for providing all the necessary help.
