The Great Chess Movie is documentary film and it was first shown last April 6, 1983 at the Film Forum. The film was the work of Gilles Carle and Camille Coudari.
After last Sunday's CBS News 60 Minutes with Magnus Carlsen, I began to look for classic, decades old film clips that features chess on YouTube. Prior to the Magnus Carlsen CBS News episode, they replayed their 60 Minutes with Bobby Fischer and this really did the trick. It made me want to see more of the chess classics.
The Great Chess Movie:
The backroom story of how the movie came about, which players ended up in the film and how it all began are in the Part 1 of the Chessbase Article called Nineteen hours with Bobby Fischer.
