Hey there!
I'm proud to introduce, the UP College of Medicine Royal Chess Club:
Make no mistake about the members of this club. These young guns we have are enrolled in probably the toughest medical school program in the Philippines, if not in Asia.
Michael Co, the founding president of the club and the rest of the club members are part of the UP INTARMED Class 2012. What is INTARMED? Basically, it is a program offered only to the top 40 UPCAT passers and they would have to complete the usual 8 year med school into 7 years. The premed course is integrated into 2 years instead of 4.
Chess playing skills? Take away all those med books, medical researches and time consuming medical outreach programs and you'll have a player ready to slug it out with anyone.
