UPHR Advances

Hi there!

Our boys from the University of Perpetual Help Rizal-Dalta System won their dual match against LAPSAA champions, Bloomfield Academy with a score of 10-0.

With the win, UPHR advances to the Las Pinas division meet and will represent the private schools sector in the high school division. Divine Light Academy - Las Pinas will represent the girls high school division, Mayflower Academy will represent the girls elementary division while Bloomfield Academy will play in the elementary division.

The dual meet is scheduled from December 10-12 with venues to be confirmed yet.

Also, Joshua Bersamina is the champion of the 1st University of the Philippines-Manila Inter-department Chess Championship sponsored by the UP-Manila Chess Club. Joshua Bersamina, the eldest among the chess playing family, won the tourney over tiebreaks. Congratulations!

There will be a tournament sponsored by Chess Arbiters Association of the Philippines on Sunday, December 14, 2008 at the URCI Las Pinas. Further details to follow!

Off I go to watch the Dream Match between our very own, the world's best pound for pound, Manny "PACMAN" Pacquiao vs Golden Boy Oscar de la Hoya.

Before I leave, please pray for the speedy recovery of my father, Alfredo Torre Buenaventura, who was scheduled to go thru the knife last Thursday morning but was cancelled because of a "mass" found on his large intestine. We are waiting for the biopsy results as of now.
