A chess game ends with:
- Checkmate
- Resignation
- Draw
With a checkmate, one player wins and gets one full point. With a player's resignation, he losses and gives full point to is opponent. Now comes the draw which means, neither of the two player wins or losses but they half the point so they each get .5 or 1/2.
