Chess, Dramatics and The Sheikh

Here's what the Grand Mufti Sheikh Abdul Aziz Alu Al Sheikh has to say about the theater, chess and photography:

"Theatrical performance, whether it is a cinema or a song, would generally make an impression that is against shariah. People need only those (art forms) that are useful to them to change their way of life (in an Islamic manner)...However, he did say that “Photography is one of the necessities of life. ”

For more, you can visit the kippreport and Gulf News.

Hmm! Throw away those chessboards, forget about your season tickets to Metropolitan Theater Shows and buy the lates D SLR Cameras you can find as soon as possible.

In Namibian Chess, Charles Eichab is awarded the Candidate Master by the World Chess Federation. Congratulations! I wonder if FIDE can also do the same to our untitled Pinoy Chess players. For sure it will be very expensive for FIDE to do that, most chess players we have in the Philippines can and able to play very well against foreign grandmaster calibers.

This is not exaggeration man! If you happen to visit the Philippines, try to play at the Chess at the Luneta Park Chess Garden and you'll see why I'm saying this.

Still on GM Wesley So, check out Ed Andaya's post Now here is a chess player to admire.

Lastly, GM Wesley So, I hope you consider (well this is actually for Mang William, his dad) playing in Europe most of the time. This will surely provide you more playing time with the world's elite. It's for you, it's for our country.
