Pinoy FIDE Master and National Masters in Aussie’s premier chess tourney
2008 Sydney International Open Chess Tournament
FM Sales, NM Barbosa & Co. to aim for IM/GM norm FM Jesse Noel Sales, NM Oliver Barbosa, NM Joseph Julius De Ramos, NM Levi Mercado, NM Homer Cunanan, Ramon Manon-og Jr. Leo Daylo Jr. confirmed their participation in the coming 2008 Sydney International Open Chess Tournament that will be held in Parramata City, New South Wales Australia.
As of posting date, there are already 12 GMs, 9 IMs, 6 FMs, 1 WGM, 1 WIM and 1 WFM that confirmed their respective participations in the Australia’s premier annual chess tourney which offers a lot of GM and IM norms due to the large presence of Grandmasters throughout the globe.
Super Grandmaster Vadim Malakhatko (2600) of Belgium and 2006 US Olympiad member GM Varuzhan Akobian (2599) leads the strong list of participants.
The said tournament will run from March 25 to March 29, 2008.
Another Pinoy, Homel Cunanan, is entered in the challengers section of the tournament.
