Yes my dear readers, former president Joseph Ejercito Estrada was given yesterday the verdict: GUILTY! Reclusion Perpetua for him. His son, Senator Jinggoy Estrada and another lawyer who I can't remember the name, were given the not guilty tag.
Our guy "ERAP" started out as a movie actor together with the late, Fernando Poe jr. in those action packed, fist flying films and later on run as a city mayor of San Juan.
Yes, he opened (started) his career in show business, then middle of the game dabbled into politics successfully. A lot of folks would attribute the great success of San Juan City to him. The city is one of the most progressive in the land. He won the senatorial seat when he run for it and yes, convincingly winning his bid for presidential seat in our country, the pearl of the orient.Unfortunately, this political post he had, I consider as the endgame phase, is too much for technicalities. Documents to sign coming from everywhere and nowhere, is too much to monitor. Stories of midnight parties of at The Palace and other majhong sessions just won't help in running a country, much more for a once great nation like ours.
And yes, he blundered in this endgame phase of his. Interestingly, the case filed against him sounds like one, plunder. Chess, life, politics... opening, middle game and endgame. Blunder with a plunder!
Sadly, our nation's 13th president has to suffer from these. Some say its a symbolic decision for everyone to learn from. Politicians and the people ought to know the lessons that come with the decision.
Has anyone ever asked if Erap plays chess? If he did, maybe he could have missed the endgame training sessions. Or he was overwhelemed by the presence of GM strenght like of other politicians and servants in policing and "managing" things around.
