Hi there!
Congratulations to our WU-16 Team! With only one titled and FIDE rated player on our team, we are doing tremendously great at number 2 spot! On board one of course is theever reliable Whiz, GM candidate Wesley So, boards 2 to 4, we have Karl Viktor Ochoa, Haridas Pascua and Franz Robert Grafil. We are closely tailing behind tournament leader and top 2 seed India which is our round seven opponent.
Whew! How exciting can it get?
I really wish to see corporate sponsorship in our land be directed towards our chess players development, most specially our juniors and age groupers.
If you haven't been living under a rock, I'm sure you know what happened to Pilipinas Basketball team in the recent FIBA Asia Championship. The team sent was funded and supported since its inception and some months ago hoping to make a comeback to the Olymics. If my memory serves me right, they were given around 70 million pesos for training. Wow! We don't , or should I say, we have never heard of such amount poured in for chess in our country.
Imagine Wesley getting the financial help to join FIDE rated tourneys overseas using just 10 percent of the amount used for the basketball team that flopped in 2 major games? We will not have just one 13 year old GM but a lot of them!
To the Philippine Chess team we have right now, continue your winning ways! RAISE HIGH the Philippine Flag!

Don't brag about having untitled and unrated players. When the Federation doesn't pay FIDE it's dues, tournaments are not rated. Anyway, I expect a downfall in round 8 already.
ReplyDeletestupid guy, where is the downfall in round 8? 2-2 score gago!!!
